[BL 5] Discovering Purpose In Your Pain with Mal Duane

This episode is all about releasing the shackles of shame, pain and self-condemnation to live a life of passion and purpose with Bestselling Author and Life Recovery Coach Mal Duane using her own life experiences as a catalyst to spearhead this conversation. Mal’s transformational journey, including recovering from alcoholism as a young woman, has provided her with extensive hands-on, in the trenches experience for taking hold of life and bringing forward the potential that lies buried beneath the scars and hurts.

Mal knows what it’s like to wake up every day paralyzed by guilt and shame over your past mistakes. She knows what it’s like to feel fearful of how you will make it through yet another day. Mal knows what it’s like to feel as if you are suffocating with anxiety about your life and the circumstances you are currently experiencing. She knows what it’s like to feel unlovable, unworthy and unable to move forward. She knows what it’s like to continually repeat self-sabotaging behaviors in an attempt to run away from yourself.

She can tell you from personal experience that there IS another path.  It IS possible to release the shackles of shame, pain, guilt and self-condemnation and recapture the self-love, self-compassion and inner peace that you yearn for and that you deserve.

This episode talks about all of that and so much more!

How do you release the past in order to experience more peace in the present?
How can we end our self sabotaging behavior in order to create the life we deserve?
Is there purpose in our pain?

Guess every once in a while everyone feels paralyzed by guilt and shame over one’s past mistakes. But the key is to introspect and move on isnt it! Loved the perspectives of Mal Dune!

What a beautiful interview. My son was an addict from the time he was 15 until roughly the age of 22. Our family knows the heartbreak addiction/alcoholism can bring and the wisdom that can result. I’m so glad she’s had the courage to share her story with the world. It shows others they aren’t alone. x

I’m sure this would be an awakening episode to gain that self confidence and loosen up our thoughts and beliefs on “what others will think”. We need to live the life of our likes and passions for sure.

Great topic to talk about! Guilt and shame can build a pain for someone. I used to do marketing for rehab facilities and that is one of things we always talked about to our guests and their families.

Great podcast. She is definitely right that what harms us the most is what we think about the hardships in our lives and not the hardships themselves. How respond makes or breaks us.
